THE IMPACT OF CLASSROOM PRACTICES ON SECODARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN OYO STATE.

ABSTRACT

This study was intended to examine the impact of classroom practices on secondary school students in Oyo state. This study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the extent of the impact of classroom practices on secondary school students in Oyo State, to examine the impact of Teachers’ Classroom Management Practices on secondary school students and to examine the impact of teachers’ classroom assessment practices on secondary school students. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 teachers of selected secondary schools in Oyo state, Nigeria. The study findings revealed that teachers’ classroom assessment practices have impact on secondary school students in Oyo State; based on the findings from the study, teachers are required to develop classroom assessment that aligns with practices recommended by experts of educational assessment.
