THE IMPACT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE
ABSTRACT
This study was intended to examine the impact of training and development on organizational performance. This study was guided by the following objectives; to find out whether training and development programme has significant impact on the performance of an organization, to examine whether on-the-job training is very effective and also saves time and cost in an organization, to identify the practical effects of training and development has on performance of an organization and to identify the weak areas that employees require for training to be given to overcome inefficiency in an organization. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 staff of First Bank Plc. The study findings revealed that personal training and development help to increase performance of organizations; based on the findings from the study, there should be training and development in every organization.
